Our Mission:

"To promote, discover, protect

and preserve matters of an historical nature

in the Loon Lake area,

including the Old Loon Lake Schoolhouse

and its many memories."

We do this by gathering together as interested individuals and families to

  • preserve historical information, photos and stories for the community to enjoy

  • educate and generate interest about the rich local history- lakes, homesteads, mines, railroads, resorts, businesses, schools & education, etc.

  • maintain a free museum of local artifacts, people and events (both donations and on loan) in our ever-changing exhibits

  • collect records and ephemera - items and information meant to last a day, saved for posterity

  • connect as a diverse vibrant community; WA state 501(c)3 organization with volunteer board and membership

  • support & showcase local artisans and the historical society through "Joan's Gift Shop"

  • build community at the Loon Lake Summer Festival - 3rd Saturday in August

Drop by the Old Schoolhouse any Saturday May through September from 10-4 to chat with our historians, begin building your 'family book' to maintain your history here, and to explore our exhibits!

We welcome suggestions, feedback, volunteers, donations and partnerships.
