Joan was an active member of the Loon Lake Loon Association -
Selecting Loonsday shirts was an important task as well as logging loon sightings and loon education in local schools. The giftshop was orginally the Loon Shop, fundraising for LLHS & LLLA.

Joan passed away on July 14, 2022 - a few months after turning the gift shop over to LLHS volunteers. She knew we re-named it "Joan's Gift Shop" before she passed!

Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War
Joan was a life member of the Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Dept. of Washington and Alaska, Lizbeth Turner Tent #4. She served as Council 2, Jr. Vice President and Chaplain. She descended from Theodore Williams, Co A, 160th Inf, NY.
She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She descended from John Wallace of Virginia, Patriot.

Loon Rangers Halloween Walk 7 a.m.
on Halloween morning in costume. Joan is in the orange sweater flanked by Verla Meyer and Karen Meyer (penguin). This was prior to Loonsday Walks, early 1980s.
Joan did the purchasing, decorating and administration of the "Loon Shop" for years! She was always behind the counter on Saturdays!
